Born and raised in New York and currently based in Rome, Alexa spends much of her time building Eccola while collecting miles between FCO and JFK.
She has always been a multi-passionate and lifelong learner, having earned a BS in Biochemistry from Georgetown University, an MPA in Health Policy and Management from NYU, and an MBA from Luiss Business School in Rome. Professionally, she leaned on each of these disciplines during her time in strategy consulting for the pharmaceutical sector. There, she designed business strategies to develop and launch new products, which required bringing together patients, physicians, and insurers to guarantee access to life-changing medicines. Alexa saw first-hand how a well-designed collaboration can create more value than the sum of its parts, where everyone can win.
Alongside her professional work, Alexa has had a long-time passion for fragrance, which became an integral part of her life as she practiced mindfulness and navigated the inevitable anxiety and stress of millennial living. Alexa eventually turned fragrance into a daily ritual of self-care that taught her to appreciate and connect with the emotion behind each scent. To reconnect with her passion for chemistry in a more fun, expressive way, she began teaching herself perfume formulation and tinkering with accords and compositions in her free time. She is consistently inspired by other self-taught perfumers and perfumer-founded brands, and hopes to one day express her own art through fragrance.
Beyond this, Alexa is also a content creator, sharing her life in Italy, Italian American culture, and passion for fragrance as @eccoalexa on her personal Instagram and TikTok pages. She also loves singing and making music, exploring Rome, and hunting for the city’s best gelato (currently a tie between La Romana and Giolitti).
The inspiration for Eccola
As Alexa began creating content in 2024, she found herself deep in the world of perfume and fragrance on social media and embraced being part of the growing community. At trade shows including ScentXplore, Esxence, and the London Niche Perfume Show, she connected in person with fellow creators and enthusiasts, as well as niche brand founders and their teams.
From creators, she kept hearing the same complaint: every brand has its own system for creator partnerships, with different follower and engagement requirements, communication platforms, and PR management, and it is hard to keep on top of them all. Brands voiced the other side of the same problem: creators who go quiet, uncertainty about which KPIs actually reflect business goals, and no clear way to tell which partnerships are worthwhile. That is how Eccola was born, as a single platform to help both brands and creators find and enable the right partnerships.
In Italian, “eccola” means “there it is,” the exclamation you make when you find just the right thing, whether that is the right brand or creator to work with, or in the moment when you see the success of a well-matched collaboration.
Alexa is building Eccola now and would love to hear from brands and creators, so book a call directly to chat or get in touch via email.
